Dept Of Natural Resources
Map
The Ak Department of Natural Resources has an online "Land
Status" map you can visit to see how this mine relates to all
the land around it. The DNR map is too large and complex for us
to duplicate on this web site. Here is a link to it, but
before you follow the link below, please read the instructions
on the next paragraph.
DNR map library website:
To view the correct map, select the search options
“Topic” and in the drop down box choose “Land Status” then click
"Start Search". A list of maps will pop up. Scroll down till you
see: "Land status 1119" in the left column. Click on the “View
PDF” link. It is a 16 meg file, (even thought it says it is
about 6.5 meg), so it may take a couple of minutes to download.
When it is done downloading you will see a complex map of the
northern section of the state. Use the zoom function in the tool
bar to expand the Nome area on the Alaska Peninsula.
To locate the patented claim on this map, look just north of
Nome and find "Mary’s Igloo". Keeping Mary's Igloo in the center
of your screen, zoom your way up to 200%. To the right of
“Mary’s Igloo” is a block with the number “4” & above it is a
block #3 & then #2. zoom in on block #2. The gray area is
privately owned land, (our Coffee Creek mine), the yellow dot
identifies a native allotment, The red & blue cross hatch area
is Native & State requested. The blue diagonal area is federal
land that is state selected but not awarded. The all blue areas
are state land. Please note: This map shows approximate
boundaries. It is too general in nature to rely on for
determining actual claim boundaries. Use the accurately surveyed
claim maps for identifying claim boundaries.
